What type of computer program do you use for most of your drawings? [top]

I normally use Photoshop CS (PS), Paintshop Pro 7 (PSP), and Painter 6 (Painter) along with a 6x8 inch Wacom Graphire drawing tablet.

What's a Wacom tablet? [top]

It's a specific brand of electronic pen and tablet that enable the user to draw more easily than with a mouse. Go here to find out more. Trust me, using one of these is far superior to using any kind of mouse. Your hand and art will thank you later.

Why don't you work more with traditional media? [top]

I do use traditional media as well, but in the past five years, much of what I've completed has been on the computer. I'm trying to get back into the habit of using my brushes and pencils, but after s few years of digital, my skills are a bit rusty. I can assure you that there will be more traditional media as time passes.

Can I use _______ drawing for _______ reason? [top]

Well, that depends on what drawing your talking about and for what reason. The only thing I currently allow my art to be used for are non-profit icons, sigs, tags, and sprite dolls. That's it. The guidelines below must be followed:

  • Ask me for permission first. I'm pretty amiable about things.
  • Only non-profit sites/organizations are allowed to use my works.
  • Anything found on the commissions page cannot be used in any way, shape, or form, unless, of course, it's your commission.
  • Have my name and e-mail address easily accessable on the same page as the image used and have a link to Sketchy Details somewhere on your site.
  • Do not direct-link to any of my images if given permission to use them - they won't work... not to mention the fact that doing so is incredibly rude and annoying. All you'll get is a graphic stating that you're a bandwidth thief, which is the truth.
  • Do not alter the images in anything other than size. Cropping is fine as long as my name is listed somewhere on the image. For LJ icons, please list either Tessa or McGray as having been the artist.
  • No using my art in site graphics, cropping, distortions, modifications, or removing my name.

If you want to use one of my works for a profitable use, consult me first and we'll negotiate usage/copyrighting fees.

Do not redistribute or archive my art as part of a collection or gallery without my permission. I want to control where it can be found.

I like _______. Would it be all right if I changed it by _______, placed it on my site, and gave you credit for the initial image? [top]

No. Much like my answer to the previous question, I don't want anything changed if given permission to use. Inspiration is one thing, modification is something else entirely. Just create your own drawing from scratch. There's so much more to be proud of if a work is completely and truly your own, you know?

Do you take commissions? [top]

Yes. Go to the Ordering page for more details. I'm fairly flexible with prices, but what I normally charge is listed there. The more time/supplies it takes, the more it costs. Turnaround is usually two or three weeks after payment and my starting a piece.

Do you take free/credit requests? [top]

No. General suggestions maybe, freebies no. That includes people who want art for thier 'zines, books, and other published material. Unless it's Time, People, or some other well-known source, don't expect me to work for free or for "credit" (displaying my name/site URL). You want me to do something for you, take a look at my prices or become a very good personal friend. I don't expect others, especially complete strangers, to give me things for free and neither should you.

Will you do an art trade with me? [top]

Sorry, but no. I don't have the freetime to devote to art exchanges. I'd love it if I did, but along the lines of not doing freebies, real life and paying commissions are priority. Thanks for asking, though!

However, I sometimes draw art for authors whose stories have inspiried me, but that's because I want to, not because I was asked.
